Auditors
One does not have to be an instrumentalist to participate in AlpenKammerMusik. If you do not play an instrument, as an observer you are able to be an active participant in the festival's activities throughout the 12 days of the festival.
The cost for an auditor to attend AlpenKammerMusik is €400 and does NOT include food, hotel accommodations and the cost of airfare to and from Austria.
Tuition covers the following:
- €250 - entry into all concerts, rehearsals, lectures and master classes
- €150 - official festival excursions
- €350 - meal plan *
* Optional: meals are optional for all participants at the festival. If you wish to take care of meal costs separately, you are free to do so. But please note that the festival will not be responsible for your meals and that you will be responsible for the payment of your meals at every lunch and dinner the festival holds.
Total Cost: €400 or €750 with meal plan
Additional Costs:
Costs not factored into the tuition are housing, food and transportation within Austria. These are costs that are handled by the festival participant separately. The festival will assist in the reservation of hotels in Liesing, but the payment of those accommodations are to be handled by the participant at the end of the festival when checking out.
Meal Plan
AlpenKammerMusik offers a meal plan for both lunch and dinner. The cost of food for the duration of the festival (including dinner on the evening of the 30th) is €350 (roughly €14 euros per meal) and can be paid directly to the festival in addition to the tuition fee. The advantage of the meal plan is that it is a one time payment, and you will not have to worry about meal payments throughout the duration of the festival. The meal plan covers lunch and dinner as well as beverages such as water and basic juices. You are responsible for additional drinks (ie. wine, beer, colas...etc.) that are not included in the meal plan price. The meal plan fee is non-refundable after July 15, 2012.
Breakfast is NOT included in the meal plan. All hotels in Liesing include breakfast as part of their daily rate. For more information on hotels, be sure to read our hotel accommodations page.
Recommended Transportation
It is strongly recommended that an observer has the use of a rental car while in Austria. Liesing is a remote town and public transportation runs on a very limited schedule, and a rental car will allow one to reach many areas of Lesachtal that public transportation would otherwise not allow. On their own time, auditors may also want to visit surrounding cities in the area such as Cortina (Italy), Klagenfurt, Lienz, Villach and more.

Comments Of Past Participants:
"It was the highlight of my year! I felt like I learned more the week at AKM about playing
chamber music than I have in a long time."
- Felicia Weiss, Washington D.C.
"I can't say enough good things about the coaches that worked with my groups. My expectations were that they
would help with ensemble and that I would really enjoy actually playing with them. These expectations were exceeded far beyond
what I could have imagined."
- Norma Dermond, Seattle WA
