Elena Levina, associate director
Originally of Odessa, Ukraine, Elena Levina has studied with such teachers as Jean- Efflam Bavouzet, Akos Hernadi, Peter Nelson and Michael Keller, and receiving diplomas from the 'Hochschule für Musik Trossingen' and the 'Hochschule für Musik Detmold/ Münster' in Germany. At the Odessa Conservatory in the Ukraine, she studied with Dina Pashkovskaja, Igor Suchomlinov and Galina Popova and graduated with high honors.
As a concert recitalist, collaborative pianist and teacher, Elena has performed throughout the Ukraine, Europe and the United States. She has also performed in master classes with Susan Star, Alexander Bugaevski, and Thomas Quasthoff. Elena has also competed in the Vladimir Horowitz Piano Competition in Kiev, Ukraine and the 'Karol Szymanowsky Piano Competition' in Kirowograd, Ukraine. She has also performed at the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival in Bonefro, Italy and the Schladminger Piano Master Class in Austria.
Elena is a passionate and devoted advocate of chamber music. From early childhood she began playing chamber music under the tutelage of her mother, also a pianist, and has remained devoted to chamber music throughout her life. In 2006, she helped found 'AlpenKammerMusik - Chamber Music In the Alps', a concert series and amateur chamber music festival in Austria, and serves as its co-director. She also serves as manager of Camerata Pangaea, a dynamic new chamber ensemble of up-and-coming soloists from around the world that are in residence at AlpenKammerMusik.
Currently a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Elena teaches and performs as both a concert recitalist and collaborative pianist with various artists throughout the Bay Area and is staff accompanist for the Cantabile Choir. She is also active in learning new languages, where she is fluent in English, German, Russian and Ukrainian.
