Composers Workshop

workshop image

The Alpenkammermusik Composers Workshop is a unique opportunity to hear your works played by professional musicians, compose and study in the beautiful Austrian Alps. Each composer selected to attend will have at least two open rehearsals of their works and a performance by the festival's professional ensemble in residence Camerata Pangaea. Mornings will include a composition seminar where topics such as orchestration, harmony and notation will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to have composition lessons with Dr. Suzanne Farrin and one student will be commissioned to write for the AlpenKammerMusik chamber orchestra for festival's 2012 season.

If you would like to speak with the festival about enrolling in the Composers Workshop, please contact us.

Comments Of Past Participants:

"It was the highlight of my year! I felt like I learned more the week at AKM about playing chamber music than I have in a long time."
- Felicia Weiss, Washington D.C.

"I can't say enough good things about the coaches that worked with my groups. My expectations were that they would help with ensemble and that I would really enjoy actually playing with them. These expectations were exceeded far beyond what I could have imagined."
- Norma Dermond, Seattle WA
